Every year the Prince Rupert Cubs take some time to thank the community for its support for Scouting.

At the start of the Cub year we hold our Apple Day, we spread out across the city with bags of apples which we give to people around town.

The first Apple Day took place back in 1932 as a way for the Scouting movement to say thank you. As the years went by people returned the favour by making donations to our Cubs, Beavers and Scouts as they handed out their apples.

While it's not a major fundraising activity, we find that the tradition of giving has continued, most folks provide a small donation to our Cubs for which we are thankful to receive. We frequently hear compliments about how polite and sharp our Cubs look when they are at their stations.

Apple Day is really just a day for our Cubs to give something to the community, each Cub spends about and hour with another Cub or twinned with a Scout or Beaver handing our apples, and saying Thank you for your support.

This year's Apple Day takes place Saturday, October 8th at various locations around town. Apples can be picked up at Johnny's Machine Shop before your head to your station.

It's a great way to kick off the Cub year and an opportunity to show the community that Cubs is still around and doing some good work. If you want to find out more about Apple Day just ask any Cub, Beaver or Scout leader for more details.
